  • (ARMY)

NDA (AFTER 12th)

You can appear for NDA (National Defence Academy) examination while in or after passing 12th standard and join the course right after 12th. Arts students can’t apply for the Indian Air Force or Indian Navy officer after they finish 12th-grade schooling. They can’t become a Commissioned Officer in IAF or Indian Navy right after 12th. But they may become Indian Army Officer after 12th, through NDA Entry. Below is a detailed view of how you can join India armed forces after 12th arts. NDA entrance examination is conducted by the UPSC twice a year usually in April and November. You can apply online using official sites of UPSC – and To join NDA one must pass written followed by SSB, medicals and finally to be in the merit list

The written exam consists of 2 papers 1st mathematics and 2nd is of general ability test. Mathematics paper consists of topics from 11th and 12th standard mathematics while the 2nd paper has English and G.K. as it’s part A and part B.

NDA Exam Preparation Tips

  • Do not forget to refer to class 11 and Class 12 NCERT books.
  • You must know the basic formulas and concepts from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Be well aware of current affairs, events.
  • focus on reading comprehension, basic grammar, vocabulary, basic grammar rules for the English section.

AFCAT (after Graduation)

Arts stream students may join Indian Air Force as Officers (in Ground Duty Branches) after Graduation. AFCAT Examination is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice a year.  The advertisements are put out in the months of June and December and exams will be conducted during February and August. The test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force. You may register online on site.

Educational Qualification:

  • You must have passed BA/B.BOM with a minimum of 60% marks. For education posts, the candidates must have passed MBA/MCA or M.A./M.Sc. Degree in English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks and have scored minimum 60% marks in graduation.
  • Gender – Both men & women.
  • Age Limit – 20 to 26 Years (at the time of commencement of course).
  • Marital Status – Candidates below the age of 25 years must be Unmarried.
  • Nationality – Indian.

Indian Military Academy (IMA) Direct Entry

Indian Army Recruit officers through IMA direct entry in the months of Jul and Nov. Mode of Application is Online only through official website of UPSC . The written exam conducted by the UPSC twice every year in the month Sep and Feb followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). Courses are conducted at IMA, Dehradun twice every year in the Months of Jan and July.

  • Age: 19 and 24 yrs (at the day the course is expected to begin).
  • Education Qualification: Graduation from Recognised University.
  • The Candidate Must Be In Good Physical And Mental Health.

Air Force Group ‘Y’ After 12th Arts

Indian Air Force (IAF) announce Recruitment twice every year. It is for the Airmen in Group ‘X’ (Technical) or Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) or both ‘X&Y’ Trades. Education Qualification & Exam Pattern

  • Education Qualification:- 12th of 10+2 System of Education/Equivalent with++
  • 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • Age:- 16½ years to 19½ years ( at the day the course is expected to begin)

Exam Pattern

  • The Exam will be Online.
  • The exam will be multiple choice or Objective type.
  • The question paper will be bilingual, except English paper.
  • For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • One mark for every correct answer.
  • Nil (0) marks for a un-attempted question.
  • Phase-I Online test Result will be uploaded after 25 days from the date of online exam
